It has most definately arrived here! The kids were out of school today and I'm sure it's a very good chance tomorrow will be another snow day. We are now under a "Blizzard Warning", we shall see what that might bring us by morning. I have a feeling that we may very well be "snowed in" here at the Farm. We have wide open fields here with the corn having been picked and Green Road will most likely be plugged with snow. No fear though, if the County doesn't get us plowed out Wayne will most likely take the John Deere with the blower out and open things up. After all we have things going on around here!
I'm hoping that all of you who are experiencing our winter weather are safe and warm for the night. Snug in and enjoy our first storm of the season, I'm betting it won't be our last!
Oh...almost forgot to tell you....I'm almost ready for Saturday!!!
As ever,
Sharon

Still decking the halls.....
but I can say that I'm almost done. For some reason this year it has been much more of an effort than usual and I can't quite put my finger on why. Could be that I'm not quite up to par yet from my recent surgery, or that the year has flown by so fast that it barely seems it should be Christmas....maybe we just need some snow....hmmmm, from what the weather people say we are going to get just that!! We have a winter storm warning in effect for our area as well as to the north and south. They're saying we could have as much as 9" or more by tomorrow sometime, now that just might get me in the spirit! It will for sure be done by Friday (the storm and the decorating) as Saturday is the walk through....and here I sit on the computer!
I wanted to let all you wonderful posters know that I will be waiting until after the weekend to draw the winner for posting so keep it up, each time you post your name goes in the hat again and I'd love to have a bunch to draw from!
If you happen to be in the path of the weather we have coming here, stay warm and be safe.

That's more like it!
It's great to see those comments coming! Now I know that I'm not just out here blogging to myself ")
Kitty stopped by today and picked up her prize from our most recent Farm Chick drawing and found a few treasures to add as well.
Cindy wrote me a note to let me know that she had taken the plunge and joined the "blogging world" and she even became a Follower, how great is that?
For each comment added before the first of next week your name will be added to the prize drawing....it will be something special from the Farm, so chatter away!
We were busy today with shoppers and took every extra minute we had to do some creating to add new items for your shopping pleasure. Just not enough time for all these ideas we having bouncing around but we're making progress.
Thought I'd share a picture of the Father Christmas I just finished up, my first one with this pattern and he was fun to make. Enjoy!

I did promise....
but, the promise was that I wouldn't ask Wayne to move the tree....and I didn't
I moved it all by myself! I'm sure a video of the whole process would have been quite a
hit with my family and some friends. You see the tree this year is a 12 footer and it's in a big old 25 gallon crock and it needed, and I stress needed to be moved from one side of the Greatroom to the other. All I'm going to say is, mission accomplished.....
and I did almost tip it over twice, several ornaments were lost in the move and it
looks just a bit out of kilter but I can ask Wayne to straighten it because that wasn't part of the promise!
I did accomplish lots today and I'm in hopes of finishing it up at some point tomorrow.
Cammy is coming to work with me in the shop though, so that will come first.
We have some cleaning to do and several projects that we have started need to have the finishing touches put on them. We want to have some new things to offer
in the shop this week and they'll all be unique.
I need to get some comments going on here so I can be sure that I'm not just
blabbering away to myself as I write these notes to all of you so I've decided to do a
little give away....something special for Christmas.
For each comment you make here on our blog your name will be entered into the drawing and I'll plan to draw in a week or so.
Start chattin' Chicks!!
Pictures of the house will be coming soon to PictureTrail so keep watch.
Our next post will announce the winner of the "Black Friday Eve" doorprize.
Coming right up!
Take care,
Sharon

Christmas is coming.....
As I begin to ready myself to decorate the house for the Holidays I go back through past pictures to refresh my memory, not so much to do it like it was but mostly so I don't do it like it was! Make sense? Probably not to most but when we open our home for you to tour here in a little over a week I most certainly don't want you walking away thinking it was all the same as last year. Now what incentive would that give you to come back for the next tour? Wayne of course just shakes his head, smiles and says..."where and what do we move next?" He is one of my many blessings in this life. That I am sure of.
The storage tubs are all pulled out and I do have the tree up and decorated....although I'm sure I'll add some things as I go along. I did promise Wayne I wouldn't ask him to move that....but, no I promised. Nothing else Christmas has been placed yet but my plans are to be an early riser tomorrow and start and finish my day decking the halls here at the Farm. The Christmas music will be playing to set the mood and I'm hoping I can come up with a few new touches to share with you again this year.
I might even share a picture or two here along the way....stay tuned!
As ever,
Sharon

If you build it.....
they will come. Saltbox Farm is somewhat like a
"field of dreams" for us.....who would think you could build a little place out here in the middle of cow country, on a dirt road with the nearest real city 40 miles out?
That's what I was thinking to myself this afternoon, Thanksgiving Day (our Black Friday Eve)when at five minutes of four o'clock the cars started coming down the drive....one after the other.
When soon there was a line formed at the register about 10 deep, customers calling my name for help with this or asking if we had that or could we get more of this or in a different color.
I was actually so stunned by the early turnout that I got
a bit flustered, didn't get a chance to write the shop specials on the board for all to see and worst of all.....
I forgot to register all of you wonderful people for our great door prize. I didn't even give it a thought until I got in to read my emails and my pal Addie from "Just Country" in North Carolina had written to ask how it went and what the door prize was! I am so sorry. Now I can remember quite a few that were here but I need you to stop back in or call me to tell me so I can enter your name and make the draw! Let's see...Kay, Marney, Doris, Sherry, Vickie, Don & Vicki, Pat, Carol, Carol, Kitty, Maxine, Ellen, Charlotte, Michelle, Monica.....oh dear me, I am so embarrassed.
Please help me out here everyone and I promise to try very hard to not make such a slip up again.
It was just that I was quite in awe at the turnout....
I didn't realize how blessed I actually am and I so hope that you all know how very much you are appreciated and that we are thankful for you each day.
Wishes that you all had as wonderful a Thanksgiving Day as we did.
Thank you all for helping us make our
"field of dreams" a reality.
With love,
Sharon
